Rust Protection DIY Installation
I helped my neighbour install a Rust-Gard unit in his Mitsubishi Magna. It ended up that he did virtually all of it himself as it was so quick and easy.
NOTE: You must read the full installation instructions. Do not rely on this example to cover all aspects of installation. It is very important that you remove the fuse (see full instructions) before you begin and read the enclosed instruction guide.
Open the Kit
This is what is in the kit:

Find a Location:

The Rust-Gard comes with a self-adhesive velcro pad. Almost any flat surface is therefore suitable. It can also be attached to a wiring loom with the enclosed clip.
Connect the Short Connector

The short connector was connected to an existing bolt on the firewall.
Connect the Long Connector
The long connector was attached to an existing bolt near the opposite headlight. The blue cable comes out of the Rust-Gard and passes the attachment point of the short connector:

The cable was then attached to the aircon pipe. This pipe is always cold. Do not attach the cable to anything that becomes hot.

The photo below shows the final connector as it is attached to an existing bolt:

We connected the far connector to an existing bolt on the opposite side of the engine bay.
Connect to Battery
Note that the last thing to do is to insert the fuse. The unit is then operational!

All done! The green arrows show the 2 connector points.
Result
Last time I spoke to my neighbour was three weeks after installation. He tells me he is only just now starting to get used to not getting shocks from the car. Previously, he got a shock almost every time he got out of the car. He's very happy! Oh, and there's been no rust either.
